20 Years of Beauty for Gina’s Hair Designs
One of the very first store fronts in downtown Willoughby to have been restored in 1991 was Gina’s Hair Designs. Opening on April Fool’s Day, 1991, Gina’s has grown to a newer location in 1998 at Willoughby One Center across from the Willoughby YMCA.
Gina has progressed from serving hair clients to adding the pampering services of nail care and eventually in 1995 to customized skincare treatment for her clients.
Many hair styles have come and gone since the opening, from curly permed styles to the sleek and shiny straight looks of today.
“The most rewarding experience of taking care of my client’s needs has been all the people I have met since my opening. I have done entire families and watched the children grow up. Now some of those children have graduated from college, gotten married and are bringing me their children in the salon for their styles! “
“Our first website appeared in 1997, we were one of the first salon’s to have one. I had specific ideas about what kind of site I wanted, so I went to Lakeland Community College to learned web design. I wanted lots of information on our services and products so that no questions would go unanswered and my clients could find what they were looking for. They can even make their salon appointments online! Our specials are always listed and our Bonus Points Program monthly specials are always up-dated monthly. We and everyone else survived the scare of Y2K (our computers still ran the next day!) and 911 changed the lives of everyone.”
“We have always been a Paul Mitchell Signature Salon, using Paul Mitchell’s superior products on our client’s hair for home care and salon professional colors. “
Today, styles and fads are still evolving such as the new Feather Hair Extensions which are attached to strands of hair in one to three different colors. They have been very popular with all ages. Our newest latest technology is in the nail department, with the Shellac hybrid of gel/polish that lasts for weeks! I am very excited by this new product. My clients so far have loved their results. The Salon Boutique area is a new addition and my clients have been happy to browse the unique items and shop for themselves or for gifts. I have fun finding items to add to the inventory.”
“We celebrated all year with three drawing give-aways for our clients. We have given away twenty $20.00 Salon Gift Certificates, twenty Paul Mitchell product packages and three Paul Mitchell Pro Tool Ion Style Tools worth $500! “So come on in to Gina’s Designs. Enjoy some coffee, tea, apple cider or hot chocolate with biscotti. Watch a movie on Netflix or use our free Wi-Fi connect to play on your IPad, phone or laptop. Let us use our professional experience to help you find the perfect look in hairstyling and color in a calm relaxing atmosphere.”
